Do not continue reading if you hate spoilers.
Just finish watching the drama. It was okay I think. At first I thought there were to many new faces that I had trouble recognizing the characters. The first part (childhood) was sweet and innocent. I like the feel of it. Then the second part (after the death) was kind of draggy towards the end. A lot of characters were left untold about at some point of the story.
Like, where was the mother when Heo Yeon Woo was sick. Why was the father who was closer to his dying child. Aren't maternal instinct stronger than fraternal instinct? Maybe its because the character was closer to her father than the mother.
I have to admit, a little towards the end, (I think episode 16 or so) I had a hiatus and that kind of broke the mood a little bit. I couldn't help it. I felt it was draggy and almost a torture to finish watching the episode. What's this fascination about Wol the medium. Just get it over with, investigate and find out the truth. Why must you torture yourself denying the plain truth in front of your eyes that you already believe in your heart?
The talks about politics was a little confusing. Since the caption was not translated in the subtitle. Plus, I was not that interested. All I know is that politic is ugly. You have to loose something to gain something. Be mean and heartless at times. Its not always black and white. There are always shades of grey in between.
First time watching the famous raved about Han Ga In in a drama. I kind of like her voice. Little husky and a touch of a romantic feel. She's pretty too. But still could not see her resemblance with Kim Yoo Jung to play as the same person.
Two times I cried was when Prince Yang Myung realize the fate of his life and when he died and his best friend, Kim Chae Woon saw his spirit after his death. I just think that Prince Yang Myung had a life that should be very much pitied by everyone. He's the only one who couldn't change his life even if he wants to but still makes the best of it. Instead of blaming fate like the others.
The ending was... hmmm. should I say, satisfying? Since the story line turns out that way, I think that was the best the writers can do. Anymore twist, or anymore less would become a disappointment. In the end, I really hate the Princess Min Hwa character even more than the Yoon Bo Kyung. Since even though Yoon Bo Kyung wanted Yeon Woo to die, still she didn't actually do anything. Yes, I do agree that Princess Min Hwa was used by Queen Dowager Jung Hui. But to kept it all a secret for 8 years?!?!? Here, Heo Yeom was the victim.
Anywhow, I would like to give this drama 3 out 5. If you like period melodrama, I definitely recommend you watch this.
