Spending my hard earned money is always satisfying and painful at the same time...

Today I decided to go to town to spend some money and release some of my stress. Plus, to use my Guardian coupon attained from the calendar I got in December. I went with a colleague as a driver and another colleague to accompany. On the way, they complain about money which never seem enough and how their husbands never seem to give enough money for household expenses.

At Guardian, with my coupons at hand, I pick the items carefully trying to not make a mistake since I don't want to regret buying anything or mistaken buying something else and end up not using the coupons. When it's time to pay, the amount topped at RM107. Both my colleagues looked at each other and smiled. You can guess what went through their minds at that time. Since I'm single and still living with my parents, I have no expenses or money worries.

After Guardian, we went to a restaurant because my colleagues decided to have lunch. Like always, I won't order anything since I don't eat out. Usually, in these cases, I'll just order something to drink. (Milo Tabur most of the time.) While waiting, I took out my Guardian receipt to check on the things I bought, like I usually do. To my surprise, there were mistakes on them.
A coupon that was supposed to save me RM15 was counted as 15% of the original price. So you can imagine how I feel when, for example the original price for the item was RM38 and I had to pay RM32.30 instead of RM23 which was the correct amount I had to pay if the coupon was process correctly.

So I went back to Guardian to get my refund. Fortunately the cashier (a different one, since the male cashier went out for lunch) understood the receipt and the mistake the first cashier made, she and another female SA run through my stuff again and recounted my bill. It turns out the difference of the original receipt and the correct receipt was RM30. Imagine if I had not checked the receipt and gone back home. I would have lost RM30 just for nothing, all because of a silly cashier's mistake.

It turns out I only spent about RM56 for all my stuff. My two colleagues also bought some stuff and we pay them in one receipt because I'm collecting the little Guardian stamps.

So people, check your receipt. Make sure you pay the correct amount for the correct items. It pays to be a little bit thorough. (^_^)
